Hazelwood Necklaces
Not only are they natural, beautifully designed and Canadian, they work!

History
The use of Hazelwood originated long ago when Aboriginal people would put Hazelwood chips on their babies' necks to soothe teething pains. In 2002, a Quebec family with teething children did some research and rediscovered that this tree, indigenous to the province, yields many other health benefits. They incorporated their business and became the manufacturer and supplier of Pure Hazelwood products. The family has seen their company grow from small to substantial, based on product reputation, not media hype. They oversee all areas of production from growing their own trees, designing the products, to hand making their necklaces from start to finish.

Health benefits of Hazelwood
Necklaces made from Hazelwood are as effective for adults as they are for babies and children. Hazelwood has the medicinal property of neutralizing the body's acidity, which by doing so, relieves or prevents ailments such as ulcers, acid reflux, heartburn, teething, skin problems (psoriasis, eczema, acne), arthritis and arthrosis, constipation, migraines, and dental cavities.

Life span of a Hazelwood necklace
The life span of your necklace will depend on the level of acidity of your body. However, in general, a necklace will maintain its medicinal benefits for 6 months to 1 year. Higher acidity may mean a shorter lifespan of the necklace. Two indicators that your necklace is loosing effectiveness: the ends of the wood beads will darken and/or symptoms return.

Product safety
The clasp used for the 11 & 13 inch models has proven to be the safest for babies and children. In the event the necklace gets caught or is under too much tension, one of the loops at the end of the clasp will open (see picture). Since the string of beads is sealed at both ends with a metal clamp before being tied to the clasp, the beaded strand will remain intact and no small pieces would be accessible for children to swallow if the loops were to open. Beads will not fall out because the thread, made of steel covered in nylon, can't break.

How they work
Once you decide on the style, simply have your baby wear it as they would any other necklace. Soon you will notice less discomfort and a positive change in your child. The transformation may be in one or two days, even a few hours but obviously varies with each child. To work effectively, your baby should wear it all the time next to his or her skin, even in the bath. Simply remember to remove it at the pool because the chlorine will alter the effectiveness of the wood. That's all there is to it!! Although it looks attractive worn over the clothes, it must be in contact with the skin to work. Your necklace will last your child 6 to 12 months, depending on your baby's acidity level. The higher the level, the faster the necklace will absorb, ultimately affecting it's life span.
